Workshop Series

with Paige Kezima at Shift to Thrift

Every January, we’re told to “fix ourselves” — hustle harder, eat cleaner, and get our lives together. This series is not that.

Join Ottawa-based facilitator and community organizer Paige Kezima (she/her) for three guided journaling sessions exploring what it means to set goals with compassion instead of pressure. Through reflective prompts, creative expression, and optional group sharing, participants will learn to release old narratives, define what actually matters, and prioritize mental health in a sustainable, affirming way.

Each session builds on the last, but participants are welcome to attend one, two, or all three.

Facilitation Style

Each workshop will include 2–3 guided journaling prompts aligned with the session’s theme. Participants will have 10–15 minutes to write independently for each prompt, followed by optional time to share in a supportive group setting.

Paige will provide journals and creative materials (stickers, washi tape, markers, etc.) for participants to personalize and decorate their journals. Those who already have a journaling system are encouraged to bring and continue using their own materials.

Drawing on her Bachelor of Social Work and extensive community facilitation experience, Paige creates trauma-informed spaces where participants can reflect honestly and gently. A list of mental health and community resources will be provided at each session for anyone seeking further support.

Learning Possibilities

Participants will:

  • Develop a self-compassionate approach to reflection and goal setting.

  • Identify values and boundaries that sustain their mental health.

  • Reconnect with joy and creativity as part of personal growth.

  • Leave with a personalized journal and concrete next steps for the year ahead.

Materials & Setup

  • Journals, pens, and creative supplies provided by Paige.

  • Participants may bring their own journals if preferred.

  • Tables/chairs arranged in a circle or small clusters to encourage connection.

  • Mental health resource list and Community Guidelines document to be included and prioritized at the beginning of every session.
